Socks, books & where to start

What You Actually Need

Every sock brand under the sun will technically work — here's the honest, short version of what actually matters.

Which socks actually work

Any brand works

Any sturdy sock

Striped, patterned, knee-high, animal-print — genuinely any well-made sock becomes a genuinely different, equally valid monkey. Avoid very thin, loose-knit socks for your first attempt; they tear once stuffed.

For tall monkeys

Knee-high & argyle

Great for a taller monkey with longer arms and legs. You'll usually need a third sock for the tail if you're using the modern pattern with knee-highs.
